Palisade Principal Mentors Bethel University Students for the CFA Institute Research Challenge

For the past eight years, Palisade’s principal Dennis Ott has served as a mentor to university students for the annual CFA Institute Research Challenge. The Challenge is a global competition where university teams analyze a publicly traded company, write a report with a recommendation to buy, sell or hold, and present their findings to a panel of judges. Teams are paired with an investment professional who serves as a mentor to guide them through this process. As a mentor to the Bethel University team, Dennis reviewed the report process and provided critique and guidance on the team’s presentations.

CFA Society Minnesota hosts the annual local level challenge for the participating Upper Midwest universities. This year, the Bethel University team made it to the local finals. The next challenge begins in September.

“This opportunity allows students to develop their analytical skills and apply them to the investment industry,” Dennis says. “Every year I look forward to sharing my experiences and encouraging the students to see things from a different perspective.”
