Steve continues to serve the Bethel University community as a member on the Foundation’s Board of Governors and by sharing his professional expertise as an Executive in Residence for Bethel’s Student Managed Investment Fund.

Launched in late 2017, the Student Managed Investment Fund, also known as the Royal Investment Fund, LLC, is currently managed by twenty-three students. On behalf of institutional and individual investors, the students have invested over $1.2 million. Students are able to combine classroom learning with applicable real-life experiences while developing investment-related, business management, and leadership skills.

As an Executive in Residence volunteer, Steve focuses his efforts on supporting, advising, and mentoring the research and portfolio management team. Steve also provides periodic office hours where students meet with him to review their research work.

“This opportunity allows students to assume the roles and responsibilities in the areas of investment strategy, client relations, portfolio management, research analysis, marketing, and operations and risk management,” Steve says. “I admire that the students are so dedicated and have really embraced the real-world responsibilities of managing a fund.”
